Causes of Gynecomastia

Sometimes, medical treatment may help reduce the tissue within the breast. Male breast reduction surgery can be performed after medical attention has been sought and a diagnosis provided. Dr. Najera will not perform a male breast reduction without having the underlying cause treated first. In the case of obesity, gynecomastia may be alleviated by weight loss. However, many men who lose weight find that their chests still lack the firmness they desire, so breast reduction surgery will help restore the look of your chest.
Gynecomastia During/After Surgery
Dr. Najera uses techniques that lead to minimal scarring, so your results are as natural and attractive as possible. Male breast reduction surgery is done under a general anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. A small incision is made usually around the nipple to remove the excess breast tissue through liposuction. Depending on the amount of tissue removed, the skin may need to be tightened and the nipples may need to be repositioned for a normal appearance. Swelling is normal after surgery and a special compression garment must be worn for 1-2 weeks. Light activity can be resumed 3-4 days after the surgery, but exercise should be stopped for at least 4 weeks.
