Gynecomastia

Male breast reduction surgery is used to treat gynecomastia, a condition where male breasts grow excess tissue and become enlarged. Our double board-certified plastic surgeon in Frisco, TX, Dr. Robert Najera, understands the potential embarrassment and concern caused by gynecomastia and offers male cosmetic breast surgery to correct the condition and produce a natural looking chest. There are many reasons why men suffer from this gynecomastia, including:

  • Alcohol abuse
  • Aging
  • Liver function problems
  • Testosterone irregularities
  • Obesity
  • Anabolic steroids
  • Tumors
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Glandular issues

Gynecomastia During/After Surgery

Dr. Najera uses techniques that lead to minimal scarring, so your results are as natural and attractive as possible. Male breast reduction surgery is done under a general anesthesia and takes 1-2 hours. A small incision is made usually around the nipple to remove the excess breast tissue through liposuction. Depending on the amount of tissue removed, the skin may need to be tightened and the nipples may need to be repositioned for a normal appearance. Swelling is normal after surgery and a special compression garment must be worn for 1-2 weeks. Light activity can be resumed 3-4 days after the surgery, but exercise should be stopped for at least 4 weeks.

Expected Cost

Most patients spend $6,000-$9,000 for male breast reduction surgery. In your initial consultation, Dr. Najera will be able to assess your needs and goals and discuss the cost of your treatment plan.
